Joined his Uncles Sir James Edgar, Secretary to King James III and obtained a commision in one of the Scottish Regiments raised in the service of the King of France after Culloden. Held appointment of Postmaster General in Edinburgh when occupied by Prince Charles. Captain in France in Lord Ogilvy's regiment. Advised by Sir James Edgar to seek our "Red House" in Ipswitch to contact ancient wealthy Edgar family.
